Testimonial: Leicestershire Fire and Rescue now understand top criteria for young candidates

Our young peer researchers assessed and scored the Leicestershire Fire and Rescue careers section of their website. This was part of our youth employment accessibility research, which was designed and delivered by young people, supported by the Prince’s Trust initiative, Talent Match Leicester.

Mpazi Siame, equality and diversity advisor at Leicestershire Fire and Rescue, said:

“We are really pleased that we received a high score and by taking on young people’s feedback via Access Generation, we believe we can become one of the topmost accessible employers in Leicestershire.

We have an absolute commitment to diversity and inclusion, which we now understand is a key criteria for young people when choosing an employer.

This report gave us some insights into how we might better position and offer our support for those that need adjustments.

We have roles for both firefighters and non-firefighters and this report gave us guidance on an accessible process for both, which we are sharing with key stakeholders in our organisation and reviewing.”
