#miGeneration: Leicestershire company’s wanted to pilot innovative careers app

Rural Leicestershire company’s with job vacancies, apprenticeship or work experience opportunities wanted to trial new innovative careers app.

Access Generation and Prince’s Trust has partnered with MiFuture to pilot the app in the Work Live Leicestershire (WiLL) project to help tackle rural unemployment.

MiFuture is an early careers app aimed at young people who choose not to go to university. The app was built by former teacher and international rugby player, Gemma Hallett. Young people can build and create a CV and apply for volunteering, work experience, training or job opportunities with a swipe.

The WiLL project, which is being led by sight-loss charity, Vista, and funded by European Social Fund and The National Lottery Community Fund, aims to get 500 people into work, training or learning opportunities in rural areas.

Social enterprise, Access Generation, are working with employers in this project and are now looking for businesses with vacancies to come forward and trial the app from September 2019.

Jemma Redden, Director of Access Generation, said: “This is an exciting innovative solution to a company’s recruitment needs. We often hear that employers are struggling to recruit and don’t know how to reach the next generation.

“We want to hear from employers based in rural Leicestershire who have job vacancies, apprenticeships or work experience opportunities and those who want to reach a new pool of candidates to trial the app. We will have a cohort of young people through the WiLL project who will be registering on the app and waiting to swipe on the next opportunity – will your company be included?”

Gemma Hallett, Founder of MiFuture, said: “This is a first of its kind app, codesigned with its audience to maximise engagement with the digitally native Gen Z. As a frictionless functional applike Uber and Just Eat, it lives on their smartphone for a specific purpose, our purpose is to efficiently mobilise young people towards the labour market.

“This app will help businesses leverage exposure where they want to see your career offer, we ensure your offer is seen by the prequalified and keen applicants you want to attract.”
